The inquisitive tourist will also find rock pools that are lovely safe swimming holes along the coast. Adjoining South Valla Beach is patrolled only during the Christmas Holidays. North Valla Beach has great surfing but it is not patrolled. It is a fairly consistent beach break with Lefts and Rights. Offshore winds blow from the West, with best swells in Autumn and winter. The area is well known for Dolphins and you will also see Humpback whales during their migrations north and south. With both the river and ocean access, visitors can also enjoy deep-sea, beach and estuary fishing.
