Dursey Island is one of the few inhabited islands that lie off the southwest coast of Ireland. It is situated at the western tip of the Beara Peninsula in the west of County Cork.
This peaceful island is connected to the mainland by Ireland's only cable car.

The cable car runs continuously back and forth during the scheduled hours. It does not run just once.

Dursey Island

The main towns on the route are Castletownbere ,Kenmare and Glengarriff . There are a number of colourful villages in between: Allihies, Ardgroom, Adrigole, and Eyeries. Bere Island and Dursey Island offer excellent walking after a short trip by ferry or cable car.
