Food Scene

This is a wonderful place for expertly brewed coffee, delicious sandwiches and cakes and soups. It is tiny, but has so much character and a warm atmosphere.

This is a nice place to have a meal. It is part of a chain of restaurants, so it is not the best place to get an authentic meal, but the quality is always good. This one is on the third floor of The Mall of Sofia (corner of Stamboliyski Blvd. and Opalchenska Str.) There is also one on these coordinates (search in Google Maps): 42.696806, 23.320672

A very interesting place to eat! They are part of the Slow Food Movement and they offer only seasonal, locally grown, fresh food. You can find some typical Bulgarian dishes and the atmosphere is laid-back and pleasant.

This is a nicely decorated, cosy, yet chic place with a beautiful yard. The bar is located on one of Sofia's oldest and, in my opinion, nicest streets. It is usually quite full so I recommend that you try to make a reservation here: https://www.facebook.com/OneMoreBar/!

This is one of my favourite places to go at night. There is live jazz music, a cool atmosphere and great cocktails. I would make a reservation, because it is not very big. This is the number: +359 877 062 455

Arts & Culture

This is the central square of the city. Beneath the large socialist-time structures of the Presidency building and the Council of Ministers' building there are the treasures of the ancient city of Serdica. I highly recommend a walk in this area. In close proximity you will also find the beautiful building of the Sofia History Museum, which used to be the public bathhouse. The mosque and synagogue are also close by, as is one of the city's markets.

This is "the book square". It is an open-air book market in a beautiful area. You can take a walk along the market, have a coffee in one of the charming coffee houses and make your way to the National Theater "Ivan Vazov", the National Art Gallery and other central sights. Solunska Street is also close and offers a wonderful walk and many little restaurants, shops and coffee places.
