A huge amusement park that includes water rides as well, Nicco Park in Kolkata is the place to be if you want to unleash the child in you. Come rushing down the Water Chute here and splash into cool waters, get a thrill kick on the Moon Raker mini roller coaster or get a hair raising scare on the full fledged roller coaster called Cyclone. Enjoy India’s first dark ride at the River Cave Ride here or take a Lazy River Boat Ride around the whole place. Splash about at the Wet O’ Wild section here or take a water massage by standing under the Giant Waterfall, all at the Nicco Park. Before you start with the rides, we recommend you take a cable car ride around the arena and decide all the things you don't want to miss on! When a hungry stomach rumbles, catch a bite at Food Park or Beach Cafe, the in house restaurants and avoid rigorous rides for about an hour after eating. A visit to the park will squat on one whole day in your itinerary. I will strongly recommend you to try it.

If green is your colour, this is the place to be. Haven for nature lovers, the Indian Botanical Gardens is a sight to behold. Home to the largest Banyan Tree in the world, this is one place which is going to blow your mind! Luxuriously sprawling over an area of about 1.5 hectares, this 250 year old tree looks like a tiny forest in itself and attracts thousands of visitors every year. You can head here for a quiet walk in the midst of natural beauty or you can pack in a hearty picnic basket and simply settle in. The gardens are also dotted with a number of small lily ponds which give the place immense aesthetic beauty. The surprising view of a pond behind a huge tree or the sight of birds, frolicking together is going to be with you for a long time. In the bustling city of Kolkata, it may be difficult to imagine such serenity and peace. The rustling leaves, the gurgling ponds and the soft chirpings of birds is definitely going to take you into another world. If you are travelling in a large group with kids, you are certainly in for an unforgettable experience.

Shopping

This place has a different charm. I Always roam around here. It is best for street shopping, lots of streets food and good Bengali fast food. It is a must visit place. Shopping street is crowded but has lot to offer in terms of variety of Sarees, Kurtas. This market has it all. It is a few streets big near a crossroads intersection. So be sure to get out of your transport mode on the street that sells what you want. You can wander from there but crossing roads is challenging and traffic seems to be chaotic no matter what time you come here. The vendors do not pressure you to buy like some other markets in Kolkata.. This market is good if you like to "bargain" seems prices are not fixed unless you are inside one the the A/C shops along the way. This is one of the better markets and it's fun to spend time here if you are a market person. Recommended for good " deals " on whatever you are looking for.

Everything Else

This is the only place where you can find almost everything. Eden Gardens, along with the Strand and Esplanade area, formed the main recreational area for the English during the Raj. Plunge into the sea of humanity at Esplanade. Rows of once-splendid buildings pass before your eyes. Such a building is Hogg Market, more popularly known as New Market. This was built in 1874 by Stuart Hogg and, as the urban proverb goes, even tiger’s milk can be found in New Market. Though much of it was burnt down in 1985, the main structure still remains. Shopping and eating here is a must during any Kolkata trip. Whatever you want, just name it and the next thing it is on your hand.
