There are a few museums in Whitby but if you want to learn about Captain Cooks ventures this is worth a visit. Cook trained as a seaman in Whitby and the museum is where he lodged as an apprentice. A replica of the Endeavour is now in Whitby.

The Museum and Art Gallery can be found in Pannett Park. The extensive Museum Collections comprise items and artefacts of local and national interest donated over the past 200 years. The Tea Room is open on three or four days a week, serving tea, coffee and cakes.
