Farm to table, center of town, highly regarded, diverse menu including tapas items, eat in the bistro or outside, not the formal dining side, located in an old church so great ambience. Try a tapas order of the calamari (not on the menu as a tapas but they'll do it) with an interesting pineapple based dipping sauce, not the usual dipping choice!

Family owned and operated, not fancy (looks like a coffee shop inside) but the Indian food is superior to the fancier Cinnamon in Rhinebeck and Red Hook is only ten minutes away, just like Rhinebeck

Closest thing to a Paris bistro. If you love a good steak, ask if they're serving the steak au poivre...not always on the menu. Located in the historic Kingston Stockade district, 20 minutes, New York's first capitol and revolutionary war site.

Definitely a chef with flair. Always seems to have something interesting and usually a gamefood on the menu, I've seen Pheasant Legs here, Rabbit, etc lol! Menu changes all the time, so check it out. Best steak fries in town although I think they call it chips, unusual Scottish influence on the menu.

Visit the historic uptown/stockade area of Kingston to see the site of the original Senate house for NY State, but also the amazing 1700's intact historic stone houses that dot this 10 block radius of one way streets and great restaurants/shops which has experienced a major revival/boom town feel in the wake of covid.
