As a child my dad used to take us to Negril. There is a certain freedom I feel just walking along the beach or getting food from one of the roadside vendors The sunsets were always spectacular. Ricks cafe was always a treat albeit a bit pricey. Everyone just seem joyful and happy in Negril. i recommend that it be somewhere you stop on your itinary.

Food scene
I've been coming to the Pelican Grill since I was a youngster growing up in Montego Bay. On occasion my parents would take us there as a family outing. The meals were always delicious but what I remember most was the ice cream or milk shakes after dinner. The is a favorite of locals and tourists alike so arrive early

Margaritaville is one of the places i recommend that you stop soon after you arrive. Located on the Hip Strip, Gloucester Avenue, it features live music and great food especially hamburgers and a variety of exquisite drinks on the menu. With various bands performing and a great menu you will have an unforgetable time there.

Dunn's River Falls is a most memorable experience. People come from all over the world to experience the climbing up the rocks while refreshing water come gushing down. Beside the falls is a nice beach to relax after your climb. Take lots of pictures.

car rentals or buses
Renting a car is the best way to get around. If that is not an option you can charter taxis for short rides, and take buses going from town to town. Knutsford Express, a popular bus company used by locals and tourists alike can take you from Montego Bay to Ochi Rios or Negril and back. You just need to know the schedules and fares which are online. In addition there are reputable tours available that will let you experience excursions in Montego Bay and other parts of the country. mosquito repellant, sunscreen and bottled water
During the summer months there are a lot of mosquitos. If you are not going to the beach it would be good to put on some mosquito repellant that contains deet. Also if you will be walking around in the sun then some sun screen is a no brainer.
Getting some cheap bottled water from the supermarket is an easy way to save money. You find bottled water in mini marts and supermarkets all over. And if you are into snacks most supermarkets and superettes will have cheap jamaican snacks you can enjoy

Eat national dishes
I urge you to partake in all of Jamaica's cuisine. Our national dish is ackee and saltfish but you can also get saltfish and callaloo, cornmeal or banana porridge and lots of other foods for breakfast. Oxtails, jerk chicken, jerk pork and a variety of other dishes are available for lunch and dinner at most restaurants. An expensive restaurant is not a necessity. You can even find an affordable one that the locals go to like Pelican grill or Scotchies though there may be a line depending on what time of the day. I also recommend you fo stop at one of our many Patty shops like Tastee patties.
