Englewood's uncrowded beach is pure and wide and has excellent facilities. Just south, you'll find Blind Pass Park, a fantastic place for shelling and finding sharks' teeth.
Plenty of golf is available in and around Englewood, and the birding is great.
You can also try parasailing or rent a jet ski. Fishing in Englewood is also outstanding and several companies will take you out on their boats.
Absolutely embark on an eco-tour of Lemon Bay. You’ll almost certainly see dolphins, manatees, and all kinds of shorebirds and wildlife.

The addition of displays and activities within the attraction such as; the Hunt Brothers Pizza shop, The all year around Christmas House, a Fossil and Gemstone Mining Rig, Game Room, Full Scale Dinosaur Exhibit, US Post Office, Gulf Coast Homemade Fudge and Ice Cream Shop, and 50,000 square feet of shopping including beautiful gifts, nautical décor, jewelry, pearls, toys, coral and of course shells, began to create the one-of-a-kind experience that is still evolving today. A recent addition, the Soaring Eagle Zip Line is thrilling the young and young at heart with every ride high into the North Fort Myers sky.
One of the most significant embellishments to the Shell Factory was the addition of the Nature Park, which in 2019 just celebrated its 15th year as an animal rescue & environmental education foundation. Animals from an armadillo to a zebra call it home. The over 400 critters, birds, reptiles and fish that inhabit the lush environment are staged in aviaries, a gator slough ecological laboratory, petting farm and all manner of habitats and dwellings.
Southern Grill & Event Center, Tommy's Outdoor Cafe are thriving thanks to enthusiastic community support. Adjacent to the restaurant is a large special event venue, host to weddings, corporate events, and receptions of all kinds. Featured political events include visits by a number of influential figures such as Governor Rick Scott, US Senator Marco Rubio and former N.Y. Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Located just north of Veteran's Parkway, Four Mile Cove / “Eco Park” is a brackish water wetland area that features a walking trail, visitor center, Veterans Memorial Area, and seasonal kayak rentals. There is an 800’ portage along the kayak trail, therefore it is not for beginners and children under 6 are not permitted in the kayaks. However, visitors of any age can walk through the preserve on the boardwalk. Possible wildlife sightings include eagles, ibis, herons, other wading & migratory birds, raccoons, snakes, etc. Be sure to stop at the visitor’s center for information on programs, local wildlife, trail guides and the “last chance to use the facilities.”
On the south side of the parking lot is the Veterans Memorial Area, which includes several memorials designed to recognize and honor those who have served our country through the U.S. armed services.
As the City of Cape Coral was being developed, the state stepped in and mandated that the area, which was known locally as Four Mile Cove, be preserved. Now, the property is leased from the state to the city to operate as a preserve. The trail system was funded by grants & as a condition of these grants, the city must manage the park to benefit the wildlife; so human intrusion is kept to a minimum.
This is a nature preserve, therefore dogs are not permitted on the trails and neither is jogging, skateboarding, biking, skating or rollerblading. The walking trails and access to the Veterans Memorial Area are available year-round, but the kayak rental operation is limited. (Weekends, November through May).
