Sightseeing

Our favourite beach to visit is Sidmouth. It's approx 30 mins drive from our house. Sidmouth beach is pebbles when the tide is in but there is a large expanse of sand when the tide goes out. The Esplanade is a mile long and is backed by York Terrace, a lovely row of Georgian houses with wrought iron railings. There are various ornate cottages in the resort, built by wealthy visitors from the late 18th century onwards. There are plenty of hotels, cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. If you like coffee and something yummy to eat here’s a few of our favourite places on the seafront… The Clock Tower in Connaught Gardens…you can get to this by walking along the seafront and then climbing Jacob’s Ladder. Mocha Restaurant situated in the middle of the Regency Esplanade with views across to Lyme Bay. The Arches on the seafront.

Approx 25 mins drive from our house. Exmouth Beach is well celebrated for its two miles of golden sand, rare on this coast and fascinating rock pools it's a paradise for children and adults alike. The promenade is two miles long and still has old favourites such as swing boats and crazy golf. The walk from the Marina to Orcombe Point is level and has wonderful views towards Dawlish and Torbay, there are plenty of cafes and 3 public Houses, plus and The Pavillion each with food along the front to stop and relax awhile.

The home of great Arabian Cuisine. This little gem of a place has been serving delicious Moroccan & Lebanese food for 33 years. Their tagines are seriously yummy. As for the location - a lease held by the Cathedral Archive states that Edward Leminge is said to have built the Three Gables in 1658.
