Places to Visit
Cradle Mountain is a place of amazing natural beauty. It is a place for all seasons but best to check weather conditions before travelling. Plenty of walks to do and photos to take. Don't forget to pack warm clothing and good walking boots especially if you plan on doing any of the great walks available. The visitor centre is open daily from 8.30am to 4.30pm (hours are extended in peak times) and provides information on walks and other activities in the area, as well as sales of parks passes and a range of souvenirs. The Overland Track check-in counter is located inside the visitor centre.
It is a must for travellers to experience and only one and half hours from Airbnb.
National-park shuttle buses run between the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre and Dove Lake (8am-6pm October to March, and 9am-5pm April to September), with private vehicles not permitted on the road during these times. Shuttle bus tickets are included as part of your parks pass, which is required for entry to Tasmania’s national parks.

Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden

Friends of Burnie Penguins provide a free interpretative guided experience to visitors. The guides will explain and answer any questions, you may have. If you are travelling to Launceston and visiting some of the wineries in the West Tamar region, this small and rustic winery is a must. We nearly drove past the winery, but once inside, the building comes alive. We got to meet the (aspiring) Viticulturist and Winemaker Ashli. What an amazing experience to listen to Ashli as she shared about the history and her wine knowledge. We can highly recommend doing a tasting at Iron Pot Bay. A small but amazing winery, definitely worth a visit.

Great winery to visit and do a wine tasting, it is now called Small Wonder Wines. We visited this site a few years ago when it was Goaty Hill Wines. Still providing amazing wines, and exciting to see the huge expansion taking place on site.
