Food scene
(22 min COS) This is a splurge, with main courses around $50, but the views, the service and food are all outstanding. Even my Manhattan and San Francisco foodie friends loved it, and they're a bunch of...picky people. :) This is a 22-minute drive from the cabin.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available as of this writing. I highly recommend a sunset dinner. Reservations recommended but sometimes last-minute works too.

The world famous PIkes Peak Accent and Marathon takes place in late summer each year. My dad, owner of the mountain bike above the fireplace, ran each race multiple times.
(0 miles, GMF) Why not just start the hike from the cabin? Take the short trail that borders the cabin off the deck side of the house (just go right from the driveway and you'll see it) up to Hondo Avenue. Go right and you'll run into this trail at the end of the road. Start at the waterfall and follow the river through a canon and eventually to a beautiful valley with a stream and rock formations. COntinue to Catamount reservoir, turn back, or try to connect to Bratton trail to wrap all the way around Mnt. Dewey trail.
Also just a little ways up Catamount is Thomas trail, which goes to the other waterfall in town for a shorter, less steep option.
