Bouloukos Taverna - Levrechio Beach. There are fewer beachside tavernas than you might expect but Taverna Bouloukos is one - located on Levrechio beach a mere a five-minute walk from Longos – and it is sensational at that. Located on the edge of Levrechio Beach and among olive treats it is impossibly romantic. Bouloukos maintains the Greek tradition through authentic flavors and delicious recipes prepared from the freshest ingredients. Their menu includes fresh fish and seafood as well as stews, risotti, pasta and grilled meat. Firm favourites include fried cheese with beer, fried zucchini, greens with garlic sauce and puree of mashed beetroot, carrot and potato. Pricey but worth it.

A family owned and run restaurant located on the west coast of the island Erimitis is best know for its superb sunsets. Hanging on top of dramatic white sheer cliffs the views of the cliffs, ocean and sunset are spectacular. Renowned as the most romantic spot on Paxos people flock here for sunset drinks at the cocktail bar and sunset evening meals. Swish and sophisticated it is the only place to be when the sun starts to set! The Erimitis menu is typically a blend of simple, tasty ingredients with a unique twist but still in keeping with the traditions of Paxiot cuisine. Pricey but worth it.

Located between Loggos and Lakka on the edge of Monodendri Beach you'll find this "Island institution" ... known to be one of the grooviest spots on the island; almost Caribbean in atmosphere. The décor is rustic-chic, with boardwalks, decking and colourful gardens tumbling onto decks of sunbeds and hammocks. The restaurant - open only for lunch - is located on the terrace above the bar, sun decks and beach. This is where Ben's adorable mum Effie presides and serves up serving up a never ending supply of delectable "in season" meals. Ben's Bar is one of those idyllic places you always hope to find on holiday but usually don’t. Pricely but worth it.

Antipaxos - in my opinion - has two of the most beautiful beaches in the world! You must visit both Voutoumi & Vrika. You'll find sunbeds, umbrellas and restaurants on both Voutoumi and Vrika beach - A fabulous place to spend a day .... or two :-) Antipaxos is accessible from Paxos via boat taxi from Gaios. Alternatively you can charger your own 30HP boat and skipper yourself over to Antipaxos for the day!

Erimitis Beach, one of only a few west coast beaches accessible by land, is perched beneath spectacular towering white cliffs. Erimitis Beach only appeared in 2007 as a result of cliffs collapsing! Ermitis Beach is tricky to access and frequently windy but it is well worth a visit if only to soak up its exotic appearance and stupendous sunsets. Erimitis Beach can be accessed by road via Magazia; follow the signboards down an unpaved road for around 3km and until you you reach the cliff edge. From here it is a walk down a narrow path to the Erimitis Beach. Erimitis Beach is about a 20 minute drive from Paxos StoneHouse.

Tripitos is one of my favourite spots on Paxos partly because of its inaccessibility (you can only walk there), partly due to the stunning turquoise waters that surround it and to experience the sensational views over the ocean towards nearby Antipaxos. The contrasting sense of freedom and isolation you feel when you're here is priceless. What makes Tripitos so dramatic is the fact that – as you approach it – the towering limestone rock appears to be joined to the island by an incredibly thin - unpassable - arch. It looks incomprehensibly narrow until you are actually crossing it. Scary but very worthwhile! Tripitos Arch is about 15 minutes walk from Paxos StoneHouse.

Voutoumi Beach is the largest of the two main beaches on Antipaxis. It's easily accessible via sea taxi from the main Paxos port of Gaios - it's about a 20 minute boat ride. It's impossible to resist flipping off your sandals and diving into the turquoise waters the minute you step off the boat and onto Anti Paxos. Voutoumi - with its spectacular turquoise and indigo waters, clifftop surroundings and welcoming tavernas -is simply sublime. You'll find two restaurants on Voutoumi Beach; the cliff top Bella Vista Taverna and beachfront Voutoumi Beach restaurant. It is possible to hire sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach.

Arts & Culture

According to the legend Paxos rose from the Ionian Sea at the command of Poseidon to provide a meeting place for himself and Amfitrite. Its creation out of love and for love, must be the reason why visitors throughout the ages have found the island so fascinating. The museum is located on the southern side of the harbour; here you can take a glimpse into the history of life on Paxos. The museum is located in a building that dates from 1906 and was formerly the village junior school. Artifacts in the museum span both the Venetian and British Empire periods. There is a small charge to enter the museum which is open for an hour every evening through the main holiday season May to October.
