A little longer walk, located on the Great Highway across the street from the beach. It has great breakfast, lunch and dinner menus with lots of variety, a microbrewery, an expansive view of the ocean, and original 1930s murals in the lobby downstairs. Not cheap and not overpriced. In the same building on the ground floor in the back, at the end of Golden Gate Park, is its other restaurant, Park Side which has a full bar and a more picnic style menu with outdoor seating on the lawn, great place to go on a nice day, good for kids and dogs and groups.

Not only because Tazaki, May, and John are like family to me, but because the sushi is super fresh, comes in beautiful generous slabs, and is well priced. They have great cooked food too, especially their udon noodle soup. Tazaki is a neighborhood favorite for good reason. (Closed Monday!)
