Lady’s Well is an atmospheric little pool surrounded by a grove of trees. There are rumours that it was originally associated with the Anglo-Saxon Saint Ninian. It is within walking distance from the cottage .

Harbottle Castle is a ruined medieval castle situated at the west end of the village of Harbottle, Northumberland, England, 9 miles (14 km) west-north-west of Rothbury overlooking the River Coquet. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade I listed building.

This lovely walk takes you up to the ancient Drake Stone, a mythical place from where there are stunning views over the surrounding countryside and over to the ruins of Harbottle Castle. You can make a circular walk to the Drake Stone and passing Holystone lake and back through the forest.

Illuminated with hydro-electricity and powered by hydraulics, this impressive Arts and Crafts House was designed for modern living and efficiency. The extensive grounds contain forest walks and lakes and can be visited seperately - dogs are welcome on a lead - There has been storm damage with fallen trees so read the National Trust website for more info

The area is popular for wildlife such as the curlew, red grouse, mountain bumblebee, emperor moth, and even red squirrels in the forest below.
