Nice independent coffee shop/cafe great for breakfast and lunch, less than a ten minute walk. Food, pastries (cronuts!), and coffee are all good, but sometimes they get your pastries-to-go order wrong, so be sure to double-check. If you’re dining in, give yourself time, because when it gets busy, service can be slow: paint-drying-on-taffy-as-it’s-being-pulled slow. It’s even slower on Mondays, most likely because it’s closed.

Just over a ten minute walk but you’ll have to stand in line for another twenty before you can even order their insanely popular (some might say overrated?) breakfast burrito which they stop serving precisely at 11am. While you’re standing there, it’s fun to watch the super-efficient cooks do their thing and the salsa is delicious, so maybe the wait is worth it. Cash only.

No croissants - they didn’t want to step on the toes of Lou, The French on the Block. No danishes either. Come here for the delicate crispy sugary, buttery and unspellable kouign-amann. There’s also brioche, quiche and a fine baguette. Closed Mondays.

‘Original’? That can’t be right.” You are correct. Even though it’s been here forever, Yaki’s is not the first place to ever serve Teriyaki, nor is it the best. But it’s good in a pinch and only a minute away so don’t think of it as the Original, think of it as the Origi-now.
