Cornish Pasty Co is also in the Phoenix area so, this is not a standalone restaurant but it does provide many vegan options alongside its expansive pasty menu. The interior has a great vibe and boasts one of the most beautiful bartops in Flagstaff.

Macy's will happily care for your caffeine needs. It is a local favorite that has been featured in Arizona Highways Magazine. Plus, Jeff's (cohost) brother worked here for years out of college. This coffee house has stood the test of time.

We checked it out opening week and loved it but would save it for special occasions due to the price point. A great breakfast menu and often with shorter wait times on the weekend, Brandy’s is a go to for when we venture out. We head to the location on the Eastside when I have a craving for quiche (the downtown location does not have quiche on the menu). It’s a reasonably priced breakfast joint.

There are a few juice spots in Flagstaff, all newer, but this location feels the most local. Plus they have some of the craziest espresso concoctions I have ever witnessed and remain reasonably priced while still tasting yummy AND healthy. Our experience at other shops was a lot of dinero to taste like we were slurping up a crushed mixed vitamin!

I debated on adding a sushi restaurant to this list. Flagstaff is not a sushi Mecca and I think folks in larger cities have much better options in this area but if you are a sushi lover and need a fix, Karma delivers consistently enjoyable meals. They also have some ramens on the menu that we love!

Sightseeing
Once almost inaccessible and only known by locals, the lava river cave is now easily reached and loved. This hike does require some scrambling over rock and occasional ducking due to low clearance but is otherwise easily navigated with an underground highway type feel. Please make sure roads are open prior to adding this to your agenda, they do close the roads part of the year and you would have a very long hike to get here.

Trails abound! Beautiful scenery can be found all around Flagstaff but a trek to the highest point in Arizona (Humphrey’s Peak) is always a treat.

In the warmer months Lake Mary provides excellent kayaking and paddle boarding. It’s a relaxing easily accessible area for some outdoor fun!

Vermillion Cliffs has some stellar hiking and beautiful landscape but is a bit of a drive. Some of the areas DO require permits so depending on what you want to do you may need to plan in advance. Still, if you're planning on exploring the North Rim of the canyon at all, you'll be driving through this area and we recommend you soak it up!

Vermilion Cliffs National Monument
Vermillion Cliffs has some stellar hiking and beautiful landscape but is a bit of a drive. Some of the areas DO require permits so depending on what you want to do you may need to plan in advance. Still, if you're planning on exploring the North Rim of the canyon at all, you'll be driving through this area and we recommend you soak it up!
This is the best little trail close to our home! If you're looking for a quick hike you have about a 5-10 minute drive to get here. Start the loop clockwise so that you see the area where the path splits. If you stay to the left (you'll see a sign that says "trail" pointing to the right, which would keep you on the loop) then you'll be walking alongside the creek. This trail is not a loop and ends up in an under the road tunnel, which means you just turn around. You can do the loop as well, but it does not have nearly the amount of flora the trail by the creek has. We bring our dog here all the time and even do some climbing on a few of the larger rock faces.

All purchases are PWYC (pay what you can) and you never have to buy anything in order to spend time here. Every sale and donation helps keep the space up and running. If you’re into community, arts, and want a taste of the hipper side of Flagstaff a stop in might be up your alley.
