Fill up your gas tank before you head to the island
Gas on Pender is very expensive and is open for short periods of time. The Island is also quite hilly so you will go through it quickly if you're out and about every day.

On Pender Island we have issues with mice and rats. Some have composting containers that keep mice out but most of us take our compost to the pigs either at the end of Pirates Road or right next to our island mall called the driftwood.

Car stops are available to get around easier
On Pender Island there are a number of car stops available. Should you need a ride simply sit at the car stop and an islander will happily pick you up.

Always walk facing traffic & cross on blind corners
Use common sense when walking around the Island. We have great hikes and walks in the woods but if you need to get somewhere on foot be careful on the roads. There are no sidewalks and traffic can be very busy in the summer. Walk facing traffic so you can see what is happening unless there is a path on the side. Cross on blind corners to the opposite side of the road.
