Yamamori is a higher-end sushi restaurant. They have amazing food but be prepared to spend a bit if you're hungry. They serve black rice by default, which -- if you've never had it before -- tastes a bit like barley. If you don't have a very adventurous palate, you can ask for white rice. We strongly recommend the strawberry lemonade cocktail, as well.

Howth (pronounced hōth) is a beautiful seaside town on the peninsula of Howth Head, and is an outer suburb of Dublin. Howth offers great seafood, delicious ice cream, and an amazing set of cliffside hikes. The shortest hike is about 6km and takes about 2 hours to finish. Merrion Square is a nice, quiet park, a bit removed from the hustle and bustle around St. Stephen's Green. We recommend it for a nice, quiet (less touristy) place to relax and enjoy the weather.

Getting Around

This is the nearest Luas stop on the Red Line to our apartment. The Red Line goes east-west on the north side of the Liffey until it gets out to Phoenix Park in the west. From there, it goes southwest out of the city centre.

"Ireland's Oldest Pub", The Brazen Head, traces its origins back to a coach house which existed on the banks of the River Liffey at least as early as 1198. Nowadays, the pub is one of the area's foremost tourist attractions. Made up of several unique rooms, each with their own decor and character, The Brazen Head is a patchwork quilt of a building. Cozy and comfortable, it's a great place to get a pint of Guinness and shoot the breeze!

They have live music every night and tons of space to listen to it! It's easy to get a table near the entertainment, which is not always easy, especially in this area.
A wonderful, old pub (dating to 1766) with some comfortable snugs and good pints. A great starting point for a night out down George's Street.

There are lots of interactive exhibits: dress like a medieval peasant, learn about the excavation of Wood Quay (just down the hill toward the river), and learn about the expansion of the city over the past thousand years!

The castle tour is relatively cheap (€10-€12 for adults) and on it you'll see the River Poddle (now deep underground), a river which used to flow into the Liffey, causing a small, dark tidal pool. The name Dublin comes from the early Irish "dubh linn" which means "black pool". The Dubhlinn Garden, around the back of the castle, sits atop the former site of this tidal pool.

One of the seven "ancient universities" of the UK and Ireland, Trinity College was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I. The campus is open to the public and -- along with the beautiful architecture and cobblestone courtyards -- boasts the Book of Kells, "a masterwork of Western calligraphy...widely regarded as Ireland's finest national treasure." Trinity College Library's "Long Room", arguably one of the world's most beautiful libraries, contains the famous Brian Boru harp and is a fantastic spot to take some photos (without flash!).

The campus is open to the public and -- along with the beautiful architecture and cobblestone courtyards -- boasts the Book of Kells, "a masterwork of Western calligraphy...widely regarded as Ireland's finest national treasure." Trinity College Library's "Long Room", arguably one of the world's most beautiful libraries, contains the famous Brian Boru harp and is a fantastic spot to take some photos (without flash!).
