Real ale.. NO MEALS. Some snacks. No children or pets allowed in the bar area. There is a lounge area that children can go into. An example of a traditional Pembrokeshire pub, right on the tidal River. Faces West so lovely sunsets. Large Quay with tables and chairs opposite. Steve is the friendly landlord. If the tide is in then paddle-boarding or kayaking on the river is a treat. Or just sit and watch the setting sun. If you don't have equipment with you, a number of local companies can organise river trips for you. It's tidal so look up the tide heights and times. At low tide, stepping stones at will allow you to cross the river and explore the old ruins opposite. The stepping stones can be slippery, so please be careful, and make sure you watch out for the incoming tide. The old Quay with tables and chairs is part of the pub grounds. Built to take the anthracite coal, and lime out via the 22 miles of Milford Haven waterway. In the Summer it can be host to large numbers of vintage cars, or motorbikes as the Landlord allows charities to put on regular Wednesday evening events, and there's normally a BBQ on the Quay. While you are in the area, the village and Quay at Lawrenny is well worth a visit. Or visit Blackpool Mill for some scrumptious food. Carew Tidal mill is interesting, with a lovely circular walk and amazing views of Carew Castle.

An Australian themed restaurant in Saundersfoot, Wales? It may seem a strange choice, but it works. Bring an appetite as the meals are enormous, and the racks of ribs a speciality.

Sightseeing

Birthplace of Henry Tudor. Pretty impressive with its rare, round keep. Usually a full programme of events for children but please check first as they are popular and you might need to book. You can stroll around the castle from the car parks (although there's a slight uphill start to the walk). This will bring you out onto the mill bridge, with seating areas and the statue of Henry. Two pubs, and the Cornstore café are close if you need refreshments. Rose Café in the main street has great reviews too. If you'd like to continue your stroll, then cross the road for a level walk alongside the millpond towards the nature reserve. Pembroke main street is up the hill. If you struggle with hills, then drive past the lower car parks at the back of town and bear right to follow the one way road around the Castle. Stay in the right hand lane going up the hill, take the first right hand exit and you'll find car parks that link to the main street level. You might be lucky and find a short stay parking place on Main Street. Also worth stopping towards the end of the one way system in the Main street is the large antique centre in the old chapel and for unusual items, try The Room, just across from the chapel. There's a small car park near the Church (on your left as the main street rejoins into one road.. Eating? As well as the George, Watermans Arms and the Cornstore. Close to the Mill Bridge, try the Coachhouse, and the Kings Arms (with it's own parking at the rear) Tons of other cafés and takeaways too.

Spectacular sunsets on this West facing beach. Sand dunes, waves (respect the RNLI lifeguard notices). If you've been before and can't find the fabulous Cafe Mor beach food bar, That's because they have moved and now have permanent premises at the Old Pointhouse pub in Angle. Angle isn't far. It has a golden, sandy beach, a car park right above the beach and a rather nice café. A surfing hot spot. Angle village with a lovely, sandy bay and... Coming soon (written October 2021) a reopening Pointhouse pub and restaurant (on the little road to the lifeboat station). It's going to be run by the wonderful Café Mor team with their individual take on beach food.

Another great castle. A level walk (slight inclines) from the parking areas. One opposite the Carew Inn. The other is immediate left after you cross the bridge from the Carew Inn.. Keep going alongside the water and the car park is straight ahead. The circular walk takes you around the Millpond and gives stunning views of the bridge, Castle and Mill. Carew Castle puts on quite a few events and entertainments during the year. Check their site to see what's on.

A surfers and locals beach. Please be careful when swimming. overlooked by Manorbier Castle, the carpark is set back so it requires a few minutes walk to get to the beach. Another favourite place for evening BBQs. The Castle Inn has good pub food and hosts bands and music nights. Castlemead restaurant is worth a visit. Manorbier has its own village shop.

7miles of beach, just outside Pembrokeshire but worth combining a trip to see the newish land speed museum at Pendine with a trip to nearby Laugharne, of Dylan Thomas fame. Just along from Laugharne castle, is where he lived, and up in the village is a lovely little shed that he used for writing. It's set up as though he just walked out for a drink in the local pub. A pretty estuary village.
