I can't think of a better place to get what you need food-wise, meet locals, find a specialty cheese, meat or viand. I just love this place. And just across the street is Lucky Sparrow Kitchen (https://luckysparrowkitchen.com/) which you can order ahead for weekend baskets if you don't want to cook, but want ALL the glory of the Hudson Valley. Two amazing places - worth the drive!!

Two amazing places - worth the drive!!
This is probably the best grocery store in our area. I don't go down to Jim's Great American in Prattsville all that often; the quality is not great, and they don't really sell local farmers. Freshtown in Margaretville for staples, for a huge gluten-free selection, for great beers, it's the best we have nearby.

This looks like a gas station from the outside because - it is! But also, on the inside: excellent beer cooler, a great little deli, fresh pizzas, an amazing (and stocked!) gluten-free aisle, a great cheese/snacks/fruilts/veggies section. It's your fall-back option for when you don't want to drive to Margaretville.

It's your fall-back option for when you don't want to drive to Margaretville.
On your way up from the city/south of Catskills in the Kingston area, you will pass right by this place - that's a mistake! If you don't want to cook, order a few meals ahead of your trip (an hour or so ahead) and pick them up! They are fresh and delicious and extremely reasonably priced. This is my #1 favorite restaurant in the area. A wonderful - truly - place to hang out. To drink a glass. To meet cool people or just have an amazing meal alone with your dog at your feet (it's EXTREMELY doggo friendly!). DMI is DELICIOUS and the vibes are RIDICULOUS. Great wine. Great pop up chefs. Great lodge. Great everything. In the winter? It is beyond lodge chic. Love!

Fun, historic, quaint, charming, beautiful, arty, a great place to hang for an afternoon. Public gardens, hikes, lakes, mountains, bistros. Just a great little gem of a town!
