My recommendation of great golf courses all within an hour of the house. Either in the local area or just a short hop over the border in Portugal.

Wonderful golf course designed by Alfonso Vidaor in 2001.
Golf Nuevo Portil is a 46 hectares and 6,040 meters length course, which offers an 18 holes course with wide fairways and soft greens. The orography of the field allows the player to play comfortably on foot.
Its design contemplates a course of good technical level, allowing the celebration of all type of competitions, although to the reach of any player.
Par 71 whose variety of holes and game situations make any player only care to enjoy.

Golf El Rompido
Avenida Playas de Cartaya“36 holes of nature…” is undoubtedly the best way to describe the Golf el Rompido golf course. Both of the courses, created by prestigious Spanish designer Alvaro Arana, represent a new concept in golf, where the fundamental objective is respect for the environment. A total absence of buildings throughout the golf course means that nature is the center of attention and manifests itself with all of its force, enveloping the golfer and creating unique sensations. Golf lovers will find that all of their expectations are met and can put their skill and technique to the test on either of the courses.
Isla Canela’s proximity to the sea and its lush vegetation make it a wonderful place for a great round of golf. In fact, it is considered to be one of the best courses in Spain.
It’s a very comfortable course with small slopes formed by the natural dunes, but it is the vegetation and, more specifically, the trees which make the round tricky on occasions as there are palms, orange, olive and eucalyptus trees situated at strategic points around the course.
The lakes surrounding some of the holes are spectacular and are in fact saltwater lakes as the come straight in from the sea. The par-5 2nd, surrounded by water and deep bunkers, deserves a special mention for its beauty and level of difficulty.

Golf Isla Canela
s/n Calle Golf NorteIsla Canela’s proximity to the sea and its lush vegetation make it a wonderful place for a great round of golf. In fact, it is considered to be one of the best courses in Spain.
It’s a very comfortable course with small slopes formed by the natural dunes, but it is the vegetation and, more specifically, the trees which make the round tricky on occasions as there are palms, orange, olive and eucalyptus trees situated at strategic points around the course.

Quinta do Vale Golf Resort
Golfe e Urbanizações Vale do Odiana – Sucursal Eiras da AchadaThe 18 hole Quinta do Vale Golf Course is located to the north of Castro Marim. It is a relatively new course and designed by Severiano Ballesteros that takes advantage of the charming natural setting lying next to and overlooking the River Guadiana. The course design incorporates many doglegs, with wide fairways, and many well placed strategic hazards and bunkers to challenge the amateur and professional player.
The 27 hole Castro Marim Golf Course is located north of the town of the same name in the eastern Algarve next to the boarder to Spain. It is conveniently located just off the motorway Via Infante (N 22).It has three 9 hole segments, The Guadiana, The Atlantic, and The Grouse. All three golf segments enjoy views to the River Guadiana and across to Spain. The Castro Marim Golf Course should be played with thought because of many well placed and bunkers claiming many loose shots.
The Grouse nine holes commence with a Par 4 375 metre downhill on a narrow fairway which then climbs to an elevated green, asking the question as to the club choice from the tee and direction of the drive. Par 5 fourth hole of 433 metres is a dog-leg to the left and a good drive should reach the lake on the right side of the descending fairway. The next shot is uphill and the green is protected by a bunker, with young pines and the falling lie of the land to ask some questions. Whilst playing the course the occasional prevailing wind off the sea has also to be considered. The Castro Marim Golf Course should be seriously considered for your Golf Holiday Package.
