Entertainment & Activities

This is a fantastic place to relax and unwind, especially on rainy days. You can hire a yukata (like a robe) for 100 yen and spend as long as you like walking around eating (great restaurant, separate fee) doing hot pools, massage (separate fee) etc. It is beautifully presented and quite upmarket without being prohibitive.

Food Scene

Went there recently after living in this area for 3 years and was amazed! Was the best food I have eaten after 25 years in Japan. The seafood etc., is local and tastes amazing and the owner is a nice guy committed to fantastic tastes and presentation. He really wants to meet you! Starts from 3,000 yen per person, but if you want to really treat yourself you can! (Wed. closed)

Honestly the place to go for SERIOUS ramen eaters! Like great coffee, one has to understand what one is tasting to truly 'get' the ramen at this place. The cook is a genius in my opinion, as he really works hard to come up with unique tastes. I love the hardcore 'tori shoyu' (chicken soy sauce) ramen, though it is not for the faint-hearted (it has a super rich taste). The 'tai' or snapper (fish) ramen is wonderful also.

The name in English is 'Tsurukame Shokudo'. It is a recent ramen shop that is run by a couple of cool older ladies and a black poodle (at night). We actually changed our 'go to' ramen shop to here, as (not only is it much closer than Manpukuken in Uno) it is super yummy! Recommend the ramen on ice or 'tsukemen'!
