You can hike to three levels to see this beautiful waterfall. There is a picnic area before coming into the Linville Falls entrance area. The Linville Caverns is a nearby attraction. There is the Linville Winery in the area too ( you can take a picnic lunch there). So you can do all three in one day if you wish.

If you are up for a little longer drive this is a BREATHTAKING place to visit.... It is about 2 hours from us. Call ahead to make sure it is not closed for a private event. There are no words to describe the views... we were in total awe!

Very nice to hike...has a couple of waterfalls you can hike to. There is an area to picnic/BBQ's are available. It has a river you can fish but be mindful if there are visitors in the water ( usually it is easy to find a fishing spot).

FANTASTIC place to go whitewater rafting. It is our favorite one though there are other in NC. Great guides though "Sandy" is our favorite guide.

Our favorite place to snow tube. You NEED to reserve because it is very popular. We like going to lunch/dinner in Blowing Rock after this before heading back to cabin but make sure you are comfortable returning back at night to cabin.

In the "Patty Creek" area there is a beach and they rent canoes, kayaks during the weekends ( Fri-Sun)...you can double check to see if they have started renting during the week. You can picnic there too.

This waterfall is in the Pisgah National Forest very near sliding rock....you can see it and get in it ! You can do sliding rock on the same trip. They also have horseback riding in Pisgah National Forest if you want to do a full day of activities there.

GREAT casual place to eat. Very inexpensive and friendly staff. Food is fantastic. There is take out available...not too far from our cabin in Marion.

Any Activity that offers reservations....
Book before you go to make sure you get days/times you want. ALSO call ahead to make sure days/times of places you want to visit are open....many places have different days they are closed ! You don't want to drive somewhere to find out they are closed. Also be clear on their cancellation policy.

Summer
Summer....
shorts, t shirts, jeans, bathing suits ( pretty much everything is casual unless you know you've booked a "fancy" place. The two restaurants we recommended are very casual. Comfortable shoes ( sneakers, sandals...). If you are going to hike bring comfortable sneakers work or hiking boots. Water shoes may come handy for rock areas in the water.
If you are going whitewater rafting bring a change of clothes just in case. There are changing rooms for after ( but check ahead just in case). Definitely wear jeans for horseback riding...shorts are NOT a good idea !

Winter
Depending on what you plan to do you need to consider your winter wear. Layering is a good idea so you can remove layers if they day warms up. Good snow boots/socks for tubing to keep your toes warm ! Even inside cabin you will feel cool during fall/winter and maybe early spring so have some light warm attire for inside the cabin if you come during these seasons.

Food
Plan your meals ahead...if you are going to be cooking bring items or do a purchase at our local grocery/Walmart...at Ingles if you give them our cabin landline number at check out you will get discount on many items. Based on outings we plan to do we plan our meals in cabin or out. It is BEST to get groceries for your full stay all at once because market is not too close. However, we do have a Dollar General about 15 minutes from our community entrance that has a lot of essential items you can get if you run out ( milk, eggs....) They don't carry meats, but do carry many other items.
