Food Scene
They serve beer, coffee, waffles and grilled cheese sandwhiches here - basically everything one needs in life. It's not a large coffee shop and the seating isn't the most comfortable, but it's a nice walk from our house in a fun section of Columbia City.

Amazing local ice cream shop. Full Tilt is a local chain, but this store is the original. They have interesting flavors and fresh waffles cones. They also have a great pinball and old school arcade. It is a fun stop for some sweets and a little entertainment. There is also a brewery next door ( The Flying Lion).

5041 Rainier Ave SAmazing local ice cream shop. Full Tilt is a local chain, but this store is the original. They have interesting flavors and fresh waffles cones. They also have a great pinball and old school arcade. It is a fun stop for some sweets and a little entertainment. There is also a brewery next door ( The Flying Lion).
Is a good fast food type Mediterranean restaurant. It is on the walk home from the light rail and a decent spot to grab either some food to go or sit down for a quick meal. The owner is often there and will usually come out and greet you while you wait for your food. We especially like the lentil soup and the dolmas.

It is on the walk home from the light rail and a decent spot to grab either some food to go or sit down for a quick meal. The owner is often there and will usually come out and greet you while you wait for your food. We especially like the lentil soup and the dolmas.
We like to get Thai takeout from here. Be warned that they can be very slow and so it is a good idea to call and order ahead of time. It is an easy stop on the way home from the light rail and we have yet to have a dish we didn't like. This is our go to takeout when we are too lazy to cook.

It is an easy stop on the way home from the light rail and we have yet to have a dish we didn't like. This is our go to takeout when we are too lazy to cook.

Our local independent movie theater with so much personality. They usually have a good mix of the standard blockbuster fair with some lesser known films. One of their rooms uses sofas and armchairs for seating.

If you ever need a large pack of rubber bands or a book on Sous Vide cooking, try giving this local startup a try. They have a surprising amount of random merchandise for a bookstore.

Upscale local organic grocery store with a large pre-prepared foods and deli section. It is a great spot to grab some groceries or a meal. Pro tip: If you go in with a child they may grab 1 piece of fruit or veggie for free :)

A run of the mill typical grocery store. This is where we get most of our day to day groceries. They also have a gas station in the parking lot. You can order online if you plan ahead and they will bring it out to your car, which is my new favorite way to grocery shop. This store can be a bit slow at check out. Also- it is not far from our house but there is a rather steep hill. If you are on foot I might recommend calling an Uber or Lyft to run you home with your groceries, unless you are feeling more fit than I am :)
