Maybe what made Watkins Glen the most famous - this stone stairway waterfall trail is super popular in the summer and well worth a visit. If you’re able to go during a weekday, that’s best for avoiding the crowds- otherwise head there first thing in the morning. The main entrance and parking lot are right on the main street in town but you can also start from the top and walk down instead. There is a shuttle at the bottom to bring you back to your car if you don’t want to walk back up.

Food scene
Out of all 11 finger lakes, Seneca has the most wineries by far. You can easily find them all simply by driving around the lake (Rt 414 on the east side/ Rt 14 on the west side). Go for a drive and stop at your leisure when you see a fun-looking one or plan ahead to hit a few of our favorites: Lakewood Vineyards, Magnus Ridge (they have wine + cheese pairings!), Miles Winery, Hazlitt’s (there’s a tasting room but also on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer they have The Oasis- a fun outdoor bar with chill picnic tables, live music and usually a food truck), J.R. Dill, Atwater…. There’s literally so many.

A little farther away (30 mins) but still worth a visit if you’d like to see some gorgeous hand-crafted glass items and/or check out how they’re made. Corning also has a lovely little downtown area to explore (lots of shops and restaurants etc.). The main area is called Market Street.
