As a local, the Walk of Fame is a bit too touristy for my tastes, but hey—if you've never been and you want to go there's no judgment here! There's plenty of places to shop, walk around, eat, watch movies, take pictures, etc. There's also some great nightlife here with clubs and bars on every street, although I do warn things can sometimes get a little wild at night.

LA is home to some of the best Korean BBQ restaurants outside of South Korea. While there are far more options in K-town near Downtown LA, this nearby spot serves high quality meat and is one of our favorites. In most KBBQ places you cook the meat yourself, but the servers here will make rounds to your table to make sure your meat is cut and cooked to perfection.

You can't visit LA without trying LA's famous street tacos, often taking the form of an open-air taco stand or a food truck. While Ave 26 may not be my favorite taco spot, it's a special experience to eat here. Named after the street on which it was originally located, the taco stand started off as a small affair that ballooned into one of the most popular taco stands in LA today. It has a storied history and is beloved by locals. Known for their cheap but tasty tacos, you could feed a small army with the change in your back pocket. if you've never tried street tacos before, I highly recommend trying out some of their more adventurous choices such as the lengua (beef tongue), cabeza (beef head/cheek), or tripas (intestines). Their brisket, carne asada, and al pastor (marinated pork) are also crowd favorites. Don't forget to ask for a potato on the side!

This restaurant always has a line and for good reason. The Boiling Crab is a favorite that is a must-try for seafood lovers. Conceived as Cajun-Vietnamese fusion food, their secret sauces and seasonings have popped up countless copycat restaurants, but none have truly captured TBC's magic. Our recommendations: make sure to choose The Whole Sha-bang sauce with whatever crustaceans you order. We recommend mostly shrimp (about a pound per person), but you can try their crab and crawfish, too. Oh, don't forget to ask for salt & pepper with limes and order corn in the bag and some cajun fries on the side. The best part? No forks, knives or even plates. All you need is a bib. Not recommended for first dates.

If you are looking for Sichuan food, this is one of the best in the area, though there are several! One of the defining traits of Sichuan food is their prolific use of "ma la" which is a special type of pepper that causes a numbing/tingling sensation. Some of our favorites here are the ma po tofu, the cumin toothpick lamb, the fish in green broth, and the wontons in chili oil.

Every Angeleno has their favorite sushi spot. My personal pick is Sushi Karen. There are a ton of different kinds of sushi restaurants in LA ranging from $250 per seat high end to AYCE sushi to take-out box sushi. Sushi Karen is a small restaurant run by a cute, sweet Japanese couple. You will be served super authentic and high-quality sushi for a reasonable price. You won't find any california or specialty rolls here. I recommend the Omakase in which the chef will bring you his specialty nigiri of the day. Reservations are required but they will sometimes take same-day reservations and their tables are small, so I would call ahead.

Ok, now we're in the big leagues. This is a super high-end Omakase sushi restaurant started by two friends and chefs during the pandemic. We're talking ~$150 per seat for lunch and ~$250 per seat for dinner that is not just a meal, but a whole two-hour dining experience. Reservations are required since they have limited seats and only two windows of service. If you have never tried super elevated Omakase and are willing to pay for the experience (it's worth it), make sure you reserve your seats early.

My recommendation for a nearby Indian spot. Banhu is a combo restaurant and grocery store, so if you wanted to pick up some ingredients, two birds one stone. Nashville-style hot chicken has had an explosion in LA and this is by far my favorite spot for it. Their chicken is spicy, yes, but also very flavorful. They also have some of the best fries I've ever had. If you're not a fan of spicy, you can always adjust the spice levels lower.

A casual spot for Mongolian BBQ. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with Mongolia and the only thing it has in common with BBQ is the act of cooking food with heat. If you're never had it, let me explain. It's kinda like build your own stir-fried noodles. You receive bowls in which you can pile up any combination of different meats, veggies, then noodles. You add condiments like garlic, sesame oil, or lots of different sauces, then a cook will stir fry everything on a huge circular grill. It's not anything fancy but it's tasty and affordable. The best part is, it's AYCE if you dine in, and when you leave you have the option to pay for the leftovers and any profit gets donated to local food banks.

The area surrounding Sable House might have the largest density of fantastic Boba shops in North America. Thus, it's impossible to suggest just one. You almost (almost!) can't go wrong, whichever Boba shop you choose. However, I will pick Boba Ave as my recommendation, because of its proximity to Sable House and also the fact that I have tried nearly their entire menu and I never had a bad drink from here. Tiff's favorite is Hokkaido Milk Tea with 50% sugar and no boba and Ron's favorite is their Mango Yogurt Drink at 75% sugar. Their Brown Sugar Boba drink is also very popular. If you'd like a snack I'd recommend ordering their popcorn chicken as well! If you like your drinks less sweet, you can ask for less sugar like we do.

For more experienced hikers, this 10-mile trail loop has a moderate but steady incline but once you get to the top, the views are totally worth it! Consider also taking the 1-mile detour to Panoramic Point for even more amazing views. Along the trail, you can find ruins for a hotel, a railroad, and an observatory. It's a long hike and much of it isn't shaded so make sure you bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
