Here at Saraghina we want to serve good food made with love. We aim to recreate the food we ate growing up in Italy, the food we craved as we rushed home from school or a good soccer game, the kind of meals our mothers prepared with love and the freshest ingredients from the local mercato. As in any good Italian casa, our home was always filled with sound, but when the aroma of mamma’s cooking filled the air, we would race to the table and then there was nothing but silence.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant with a mix of raw bar options, small plates, and large-portioned entrees. The menu doesn’t really fit into one category or theme, but there’s a lot of Japanese influence, with things like caesar salad that comes with yuzu dressing, Japanese fried chicken, and a seared salmon bowl with brown rice, ginger, and seaweed flakes on top. One way we do know how to categorize the food is by telling you that it’s good, and we’d especially recommend trying a few of the smaller dishes and some oysters. The space is long and attractive, like they found all the best items in a vintage thrift store and really made it work. It’s a great option for a group dinner or a date in Stuyvesant Heights.

The New American menu centers around seasonal cuisine and is served for dinner and brunch. Our bar has a tightly curated cocktail menu as well as low-key favorites, craft beer and a carefully selected but accessible wine list. We strive to be the perfect place to have dinner with the family, cocktails with a date or a meal alone while chatting with neighbors at the bar. Our kitchen is open for dinner every night at 4pm. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday from 4:00-6:00 pm with drink and wing specials. Brunch is served weekends from 11am-4pm.

When Chez Oskar opened in 1998, a culinary bohemia exploded on the back streets of Brooklyn. Inspired by New York's Harlem Renaissance and the neighborhood bistros of Paris, Oskar is a culinary counterculture to Manhattan's sterile eateries, cranking out fine French cuisine jazzed up by Brooklyn's cultural diversity. With 'El grand Chefe' Octavio Simancas' superb cooking (he's almost Français) Angelique Calmet's fine touch from service to brave wine selections (now She really really is French), and owner/artist Charlotta Janssen's severely colorful touch (slightly French due to Napoleon's army invading Bohemia) and a staff from all over 'le monde' to make you feel at home where ever you may be from, we dare to call ourselves: Le Funky French Bistro de Brooklyn...

The Brooklyn Museum is an art museum located in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. At 560,000 square feet, the museum is New York City's third largest in physical size and holds an art collection with roughly 1.5 million works. Located near the Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Flatbush, and Park Slope neighborhoods of Brooklyn and founded in 1895, the Beaux-Arts building, designed by McKim, Mead and White, was planned to be the largest art museum in the world. The museum initially struggled to maintain its building and collection, only to be revitalized in the late 20th century, thanks to major renovations. Significant areas of the collection include antiquities, specifically their collection of Egyptian antiquities spanning over 3,000 years. European, African, Oceanic, and Japanese art make for notable antiquities collections as well. American art is heavily represented, starting at the Colonial period. Artists represented in the collection include Mark Rothko, Edward Hopper, Norman Rockwell, Winslow Homer, Edgar Degas, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Max Weber. The museum also has a "Memorial Sculpture Garden" which features salvaged architectural elements from throughout New York City.

There’s nothing like finding a spot where, if you squint and hold your head at a really specific angle and ignore the wailing sirens, you’d swear you were deep in the wilderness—or at least in Jersey. Last month the Parks Department gave us back one of those rare sites when they reopened the Highland Park Ridgewood Reservoir after two year of reconstruction. The renovations included new stairs, fencing, repaved paths, and the addition of handicap accessible entrances. Perched on a ridge on the border of Brooklyn and Queens, the reservoir was one of Brooklyn’s main water sources from the 1850s until it was decommissioned in 1990 and became a nature preserve. There’s a fence to keep you from bolting off the paved trail and skinny-dipping, but the reservoir has a pathway where you can get a closer look at actual non-pigeon birds. According to a spokesperson for the Parks Department, the pathway passes through an ecologically sensitive area and is only open during free tours. But there’s one coming up soon: if you want to make new friends and learn what those not-pigeons actually are, there’s a winter bird tour Saturday November 16 at 9am. And you can always ride or stroll along the bike path running around the reservoir.

Neighborhoods

Bedford–Stuyvesant has the largest collection of intact and largely untouched Victorian architecture in the country, with roughly 8,800 buildings built before 1900. Its building stock includes many historic brownstones. These homes were developed for the expanding upper-middle class from the 1890s to the late 1910s. These homes contain highly ornamental detailing throughout their interiors and have classical architectural elements, such as brackets, quoins, fluting, finials, and elaborate frieze and cornice banding.

Live Music Bar

Expect exceptional live music, everything from Armenian chamber jazz to New Orleans Second Line. Don’t be surprised if you walk in to find a band who plays music from Bollywood cinema. We know one. Sublime wines, agave spirits and meticulously-crafted cocktails. Expect those too. And don't overlook the food; our kitchen is open all day. Like the cocktails, the coffee is small-batch, and Chef Madeleine’s cooking is inspired by the rustic flavors of the Mediterranean. Lunàtico is owned by three touring musicians. After many years traveling the planet and performing in countless dives and venues, we developed some big ideas about what constitutes a perfect hang. We hope Lunático becomes yours.
