The only reason we wanted to include this is so that first time visitors know there is a large grocery store up here. No need to buy your food down the hill and then drive up with it. Just swing by Stater Bros on the way to the cabin and pick up what you need.

Support local businesses! We go here anytime we need gear or to pick up a day fishing license. Prices are good and the employees are super helpful and will give you current tips about the lake.

My favorite dish here is the Costillas Al Horno. There isn't any indoor dining here right now, but you can call in your order and pick it up at the pick up window near the parking lot.

Only ask for 1 pancake. Trust me. I thought they were normal sized and asked for 3. The waitress giggled but brought them out anyway. I had 2 pancakes left over. They are MASSIVE!

If you're feel like getting to La Cabanita a different way, check out the Pioneertown to Big Bear trail. I prefer taking this trail in the summer time because it gets pretty slippery after it snows.

Fishing Spots

This is the deepest area of the lake. We usually have good fishing here but sometimes it gets little crowded. Most Powerbait that has glitter seems to work well here.

My buddy swears by this spot. I haven't had much luck. Stay away when its windy or you'll be casting your line into the wind and won't be able to get out very far. Try to stay in the middle or you'll get caught up in the weeds.

It's a little out of the way but we usually try to do a little stream fishing on the way down the hill. Take the 38 down the hill and exit Seven Oaks Rd. Take Seven Oaks Rd all the way down till you hit the Santa Ana River. Don't forget to pick up an Adventure Pass before parking.
