The regional park is surrounded by the small towns of Raspay, La Alberquilla and El Carche. The highest peak of Carche is 1.372 meters high, it is located next to the Madama shaded area, which is why it sometimes also receives that name, and a characteristic 17th century snow well, similar to those of other nearby mountains. such as Sierra Espuña or Sierra de Mariola.
The mountains are mostly limestone and have unique geological formations such as thrusts and faults. In the Cabezo de la Rosa there is a saline diapir. The best known ravines are San Cristóbal, Guarafía and Yedra.
