Excellent standard grocery store. Fun, small, good prices. They have their own organics line, which is very reasonable. This is the closest "regular" grocery story to the house. They also have a good variety of beer.

Fun place, largest selection of prepared and gourmet foods in the area. They probably have any ingredient you need for a recipe-- or any sausage! Good prepared soups and deli salads, great selection of coffee. I'm not a fan of their produce or fish, but you can decide for yourself!

Beer World is a small chain in upstate New York, so unique to this area. If you like beer at all, you should visit. Everything, from all over the world, all types of brews, and including hard cider, hard seltzer, and hard Kombucha. Even if you just buy a 6-pack of your favorite (and I doubt that's all you'll walk away with) it's a phenomenal place to visit.

Right in the heart of Woodstock, this property contains lots of space for hiking, walking, frisbee-playing, kicking a ball. The Comeau estate is recreational, and the buildings for town government are also there.

Very close to our house, this is a cool Rail Trail walk, leading to a view of the Ashokan Reservoir, which provides much of the supply for NYC. This would be great with small kids or for a flat, easy, but very scenic walk.

1285 NY-28Very close to our house, this is a cool Rail Trail walk, leading to a view of the Ashokan Reservoir, which provides much of the supply for NYC. This would be great with small kids or for a flat, easy, but very scenic walk.
To head up to the highest peak in the area, Overlook, go here. The trail is steep, but not a scramble. At the top is an old hotel, firetower, and panoramic views.

Pro tip: this is where we go at night to star gaze, for open sky without trees.
