A hiking trail passes through five distinct natural communities that provide homes for many species of wildlife. Covered picnic tables are located along the trail. Visitors can also launch a kayak and paddle around the two islands just east of the park's land base. While at the park, visitors might see West Indian manatees, gopher tortoises, snowy egrets, least terns and magnificent frigate birds. Ranger-led nature hikes are available in the winter.

Tarpon and Nearshore Fishing
From April until August fishermen come from all over the world in pursuit of the tarpon. During May and June, the tarpon run heats up, and you can see these beauties in their feeding frenzy from the shore. Affectionately known as Silver King, the tarpon has long been a favorite among game fishermen. The running of these mammoth silverfish is a sight to behold. As the waters churn with their frenzy, the fishing in our waters ramps up. Boca Grande Pass which offers the best tarpon fishing in the world is just few miles from here.
