True Wyoming experience. Delicious steaks. Western environment that will likely rub you the wrong way if you're a Democrat. ;) Eat here and then keep driving west on scenic Happy Jack Rd for a beautiful day trip. Veer off into Curt Gowdy state park if you have time for a hike. Eventually you'll reach I-80 and can head back east into Cheyenne, or turn around and enjoy Happy Jack Rd the other direction. :)

Great steakhouse downtown across from the Historic Depot. The prime rib is pretty amazing! Historic building with an interesting story if you care to ask. Quiet atmosphere compared to many steakhouses.

About an hour west of Cheyenne, Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming. If you like "college towns", this will not disappoint. Laramie has a variety of restaurants (we love Altitude Steakhouse and Born in a Barn), a great little ice cream shop (Big Dipper), and the campus is a beautiful place to visit/walk around.

Great place to visit and take a tour to learn about the "wild west" and some of the famous prisoners from the days of cattle rustling and stagecoach robberies. Gift shop. Masks required in buildings.

Plan to spend a couple hours here (in the summer, bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic). It's about 2 hours from Cheyenne. You can combine the trip with a visit to Register Cliff.
