Beautiful very nearby desert preserve with trail system and bathrooms and maps at trailhead. Walk from casita or drive. Granite Mountain Loop Trail is a local favorite.
Bring water and plan on at least a three hour long hike if you want to circle the mountain. Park closes at dark. Watch out for rattlesnakes and follow trail rules which are posted.
