The house exists on the cusp between Mapleton Hill and the Whittier Neighborhood. Mapleton is the grandest of streets, with giant trees and gorgeous Victorians. Taking a stroll through this neighborhood is a low-key alternative to going on a hike. In the spring and summer months the gardens are a delight to look at.

This is my favorite place to eat in Boulder. It has that old-school Boulder vibe and the pub fare is varied and great for vegetarians and omnivores alike. It's hippy, earthy, and has the best staff in town because they are invested in the business and clearly love their jobs. My favorite thing to do is belly up to the bar for a beer/cider/wine/marg and I can almost always count on a free small basket of fries showing up with my drink. I love this place, don't miss it.

It's a small place with some outdoor seating and a nice stroll down the Pearl Street Mall to get to. Get a big bowl of noodles or dumplings to warm you up in the fall and winter.
The best breakfast in town with all the Cajun and Creole favorites one could want. Have coffee and hot beignets, an order of the Carlin County or the Eggs New Orleans and then head out for a long hike, you won't be hungry all day!

I have a special place in my heart for the Laughing Goat. The owner and I go way back when he drummed for a dance ensemble I was with. Great coffee and pastries, lots of space, live music and poetry at night. It's a Boulder classic.

This is one of Boulder's favorite hikes. You can walk to it from the house in about 30 minutes or drive/bike to the trailhead. Take the leisurely 2 mile out-an-back valley trail or get a real workout in with the ridge loop.

If your kids need to burn off some energy during the non-summer months, the North Boulder Rec Center Pool is great. There's a huge splash and swim area for kids with a waterslide, and lap pool for adults.
