Created and managed by the Ruiz family, this highly unexpected avant-garde sculpture park is one of the hidden artistic gems of Western Belize. Set in 60 acres of rainforest (part of a 270-acre property) about 2 miles southeast of Benque, the park displays some 35 works by Belizean and international artists. Poustinia was conceived as an environmental art project, where, once in place, the exhibits – including a car, greenhouse and some parquet flooring – become subject to the action of nature.

My cool hometown- Benque Viejo del Carmen, Belize

Benque Viejo del Carmen (aka Benque Viejo), located in the Cayo District, is Belize’s westmost town bordering Melchor de Mencos, Peten, Guatemala. Benque Viejo is characterized by its food, hospitality, traditions, cultural heritage, and scenery. Visit Benque Viejo and enjoy the clean beaches of the refreshing Mopan River or visiting mountain trails in the surrounding mountains of the Vaca plateau. Benque Viejo’s visitors can enjoy visiting ancient Maya Ruins such as the majestic Xunantunich (Maiden of the Rock) Maya Ruin, which is nearby after crossing a hand-cranked ferry in neighboring San Jose, Succotz!

Flores Petén , Guatemala

Flores Island in Guatemala is located in Peten, one hour south of Tikal. It is surrounded by the third biggest lake in Guatemala, Lake Peten Itza. The picturesque town of Flores Guatemala offers you the chance to enjoy stunning landscapes, cultural activities, plus, it is the gateway to most of the archaeological Mayan parks around the area.
In Pre-Columbian times, Flores was the Maya city of Nojpetén. The Itza left the Yucatán region in the 13th century and built the city later known as Tayasal as their capital. They called it Nojpetén, (noj peten, literally "Great Island" in the Itza language). The Spanish called it Tayasal, possibly derived from ta Itza, or "Place of the Itza".
