Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve is a beautiful and wild part of the Bournemouth coastline, edged with sand dunes and stunning wild grasses and flowers. It’s a great place for dog walking and running and there are often kite surfers to watch.
The award winning Mudeford Spit beach huts can be reached by walking the full length of Hengistbury head and if you need help getting back there’s always the land train. The Beach House restaurant on Mudeford Spit provides good food and is fun to get to using the small ferry from Mudeford. Check the crossing times first though! On the Mudeford side of Christchurch Harbour you’ll be able to visit the Haven House Pub, or go on a fishing trip, maybe try crabbing, or buy fish from the fish stall. Walks continue from here along the coastline to Avon Beach, New Milton and Barton, with good little cafes for stops.
