Neighbourhoods

A small town with many modern shops. Ideal for a little shopping trip. You can enjoy your coffee in one of the modern or traditional Cafes around the town square of Paralimni which is dominated by the metropolitan, three-aisled Church. Dedicated to ST. GEORGE, the patron Saint of the town. Ayios Georgios Church ( Paralimni Patron Saint) was built in 1963-66 in a Byzantine style. Ayios Georgios (Old Gothic Church) built in 1859 in the place of an older byzantine church. Its north wall is covered with a large fresco depicting St. George killing the dragon. Ayia Anna Church is a byzantine 13th century chapel which was built using local limestone. The Church was dedicated to Mother Mary but it is referred to as Ayia Anna, the name that was given to it when it was restored. The original chapel was decorated with frescoes. The chapel now serves as a museum where icons of the 16th and 19th centuries, holy relics and old books are exhibited.

Protaras and Pernera! Are well known tourist hotspots with so much variety. It is the ideal holiday place for couples, friends and families with cafes, restaurants, jewellery shops, taverns and pubs. The area is most famous for its beaches. The magnificent FIG TREE BAY BEACH is one of the island’s best beaches. It is the perfect location to swim and snorkel in the safe and Crystal clear water of the Mediterranean Sea. The famous FTB Water sports can make your day into an adventure with Parasailing, Wake Boards, SUP, Jet Skis, Fly Fish and much more. Kalamies Beach and Pernera Beach are both just about 300m distance of the Villa ,they are well worthy for a great day (Water sports are available as well). Takes its name from the Greek word “Napa” meaning wooded valley. The location surrounding the 16th century monastery in the heart of the city was once thickly forested and only visited by hunters. The sleepy fishing village is now transformed into a picturesque resort with something for everyone. Attracting thousands of tourists every year, Ayia Napa displays the culture the Cypriots are proud of. You will find traditional folk dancing that takes place close to the monastery in summer and the street festival in September. By night Ayia Napa comes alive, offering a huge entertainment to cater for all needs. There are endless bars and nights clubs with a big range of music perfect for everyone to boogie on down. However contrary to its reputation , you will be surprised by how wonderful Ayia Napa is for romantic strolls along the beach or beside the harbor, watching the sun set over the crystal clear water.

The Ayia Napa, Pernera-Protaras, Paralimni and many other villages are known to the Greek Cypriots as the “Free Famagusta District”, a reference to the fact a large part of the area, including most of the town of Famagusta has been under Turkish occupation since 1974. The North of the border has now become accessible to tourists and is a 15 minute drive from the Villa to the border of Dherynia. Don’t forget your passport!!! The entry with rented cars is not allowed. During the second phase of the Turkish invasion in 1974, the old town of Famagusta was completely evacuated by its population. Unlike other parts of occupied Cyprus, the Turkish army has sealed off the town of Famagusta just after they invaded it and no one has been allowed to enter it since then. 45 Years on and despite international resolutions that call for the rightful owners to return to their homes and properties, Famagusta City remains a ghost town. There are several “viewing points” from where you can see into the deserted town. There are Viewpoints in Dherynia. One of them that has the closest View is: Famagusta Beach View Point.
