Relaxed and beautiful, Truro is the smallest town on the Cape, by population, and has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Truro town beaches on the oceanside include Ballston Beach, Coast Guard Beach, Head of the Meadow Beach and Long Nook Beach (my favorite, with a steep dune to climb up and down though). A Town Beach Permit is required for Town beaches which you can obtain at the Beach Office in North Truro for a fee (Let me know if you would like a Town Permit and I will send you the form with rates). In addition to the private Bay beach at the end of Fisherman's Road, which is a short walk or drive, there is Corn Hill Beach and Ryder Beach on the Bayside (Truro Town Beaches). You can get an annual pass or pay daily entrance fees at the Cape Cod National Seashore Beaches on the oceanside which are also gorgeous: Head of the Meadow in Truro, Race Point and Herring Cove in Provincetown, and Coast Guard in Wellfleet. In general the Bay beaches have warmer water and less surf than the Ocean beaches, so are best for small children. Oceanside can have big waves and the water can be between 55 and 65 degrees (maybe 70 in August, but rare). If you like the water, you cannot go wrong in Truro!

Local Attractions to Enjoy
Highland Light is a lighthouse and keepers home which you can climb up to see views of the area. Highland Golf links is alongside the lighthouse, so if you want to golf at a links by the sea, this is your spot.
