Our favorite place on Mission Bay to rent Hobie Cat sailboats and stand up paddleboards (SUP). It's the perfect spot to sail out and enjoy the cool breeze on the water. Parking here is difficult on the weekends, but don't give up, someone will leave eventually, it's worth the wait. You can navigate your sailboat across the bay to the Barefoot Bar at Paradise Point for lunch or a drink.

Parking here is difficult on the weekends, but don't give up, someone will leave eventually, it's worth the wait. One of the nice beaches around, just down the hill about 5 minutes drive. Parking can be difficult though. If the lot is full, park on the street by Caroline's Cafe (which also has a pay lot) or up the street from the Cafe.

This beautiful sandy beach is the crown jewel of La Jolla. There is great surfing near Scripps Pier, tide pools to explore north of the pier, a view of La Jolla cove to the south and plenty of room to just lay on the sand and splash in the waves. For adventures you can take a kayak tour of the La Jolla Sea Caves from here.

La Jolla Shores Hotel

For adventures you can take a kayak tour of the La Jolla Sea Caves from here.
This cove is considered the most beautiful spot in San Diego area. Stunning view of the ocean, surrounding cliffs and a small but gorgeous sandy beach in this cove. This is a nice place to swim without big waves but the beach is small and fills up on weekends or summer afternoons. There is a 1 mile swim route straight out from here to bouys out in the ocean for the local swim club. Scuba divers also love to start here due to the beautiful underwater marine park here and the protected cove makes for an easy entry. Sea lions live on the nearby cliffs.

Sightseeing
A must see for visitors. The gliderport is on top of the bluff overlooking the ocean. You can watch surfers, dolphins, and hang gliders fly along the top of the bluff. You can see for many miles!

This was a beautiful public beach until it was taken over by seals. They now live on the beach protected by the sea wall. Beautiful view of the beaches and coast from here. Worth a visit. It's within walking distance from La Jolla Cove.
