Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, at an elevation of 1,085 metres, and the highest point in the British Isles outside of the Scottish Highlands. Choose from six different paths to conquer this giant; the Llanberis Path, Pyg Track, Miners’ Track, Watkin Path, Rhyd-Ddu Path or the Snowdon Ranger Path… or take a ride with the Snowdon Mountain Railway all the way to the summit!

Tryfan
One of the most iconic mountains in the UK, and certainly in Wales, whichever route you choose to go up, you’ll need to use your hands! The vertical frost-shattered spires of Castell y Gwynt (Castle in the Wind) provide one of the best photographic viewpoints in Snowdonia while the Cantilever stone offers one of the most entertaining photo opportunities around. Nobody has yet managed to topple it, despite the best efforts of generations of hill walkers!
Glyderau

Located a 20 minute drive away from the cottage, in what once was the world’s largest slate quarry, Penrhyn Quarry is now home to the fastest zip line in the world, Velocity 2, where you can fly 500m above the bright blue quarry lake. Learn all about the history of the quarry on the Penrhyn Quarry Tour or watch the zippers fly by from the Blondin Restaurant or Café.

Betws-y-Coed

Running alongside the majestic Newborough Forrest, this spectacular beach stretches for over 3 miles and is framed to the left by the majestic mountains of Snowdonia and the Lleyn Peninsula. The walk to the lighthouse at the tip of Llanddwyn Island will take about 30-45 minutes at a gentle walking pace, and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular view of the North Wales coast. Fish and chips are available in Newborough village too!

Even before arriving, you’ll enjoy one of the most scenic drives in the whole of Snowdonia, as the road descends the Nant Gwynant valley past two idyllic lakes. Don’t forget to look for the award winning Glaslyn Ice Cream Shop in the centre of the village!
Sightseeing
Home to Wales’ most famous castle and an UNESCO World Heritage Site, Caernarfon Castle is a royal fortress-palace built on legends and bitter medieval conflict. Don’t forget to seek out the Black Boy Inn… a 16th-century inn within Caernarfon's historic town walls with hearty gastro Welsh food, real craft beers and roaring log fires.

Displays include Victorian era slateworkers' cottages that once stood at Tanygrisiau, near Blaenau Ffestiniog that were taken down stone by stone and re-erected on the site, and the multi-media display “To Steal a Mountain” that documents the lives and work of the men who toiled, often for scant reward, in the slate quarries of Snowdonia.

Just 3-4 minute walk from the cottage, Spice of Llanberis is located on the High Street and offers a delicious selection of great value Indian food.

It’s a traditional starting point for the walk up Snowdon, has been described as "one of the most famous mountaineering hangouts in Britain" and even has its own Wikipedia page!
