The ULTIMATE guide to Squamish!

Local beer and drinks

Best places to wet your whistle around town!
One of Squamish's latest additions to its burgeoning craft beer scene. Locals love it, tourists love it, the pizza is out of this world! Order my favourite beer (an IPA) or try them all with a sampler flight!

Locals know this is where the best beer is at. While the tourists mill about in line at Backcountry, enjoy a heated patio on a bluebird sunny day off the beaten path over here at A-Frame. If you're lucky they still have a double IPA on tap at the time of this writing. They've also paired with a great food truck, "Luz Tacos" which is on premises. Tell em' Adela sent ya! ;)

Food scene

Just a really, really solid Indian restaurant we are lucky to have in town. Everything on the menu is delicious but the Tandoori wings are AMAZING! The owner, Don, comes out every night to personally ask you how your food was. Say "hi" to him for me and tell him Adela sent ya! ;)

Another place that has a great patio where you can sip a cold one and stare at the Chief. Has recently undergone new ownership and the food has improved. Try my favourite braised beef dip and you'll thank me! :))

A food truck that is permanently parked beside Geo Cider. Run by an actual Mexican dude so you know these are legit tacos. These bad-boys pair oh so nicely with the ciders next door. GET IN MA BELLY!!! :)

Pretty much the only "up-scale" place in Squamish, The Salted Vine is owned and operated by the ex-Araxi (high-end Whistler restaurant) team. They offer very good food on the pricier side. If you're in the mood to swap your hiking boots for your fancies, leave the plaid at home and head over to The Salted Vine. Spoil yourself for a night, you deserve it. :)

Even if this place was sub-par we'd still go here because it's one of a few sushi restaurants in town (and the ONLY Ramen spot), but guess what! It's VERY GOOD -- and this is coming from a sushi junkie who used to live in Vancouver, the sushi capital of the world. We are so lucky here in Squamish to have Taka. Get there early or else wait in line! :/

Sightseeing

So you're in Squamish and you want to do something "Squamishy" but you're not a hardcore hiker or mountain-climber. Smoke Bluffs is the place for you! Super casual, no special gear or fitness level required, situated at the base of a mountain and absolutely breathtaking -- your Instagram followers are going to be SO impressed. :) Keep your hike as short as you want, i.e 20 minutes or extend a bit if you're feeling "Squamishy" enough. You can also watch the hardcore people rock-climb or boulder at various points along the trails. Super cool... from a distance. ;)

This is by far my favourite place to go and be "one with nature". From "Paradise on Edgewater" just head up the street (North) and you'll come to a little park. Walk through the hole in the CN Rail fence, cross the tracks and you'll be on the dike. From you here you can walk in either direction on the dike until you find a path down to the river. The river is a magical place where you can see bald eagles and various other wildlife. Some of the nicest "sandy beaches" can be found along the river, believe it or not. Bring your lawn chairs or find a firepit someone has made with logs and driftwood. You would not believe the stars that come out at night here. ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL!
