Another favourite for locals and tourists is Salamanca market, held on Sullivan’s Cove every Saturday where everything from handcrafted woodwork, jewellery, ceramic ware and glassware to the freshest fruit & vegetables are sold.

The village also boasts a variety of quaint and quirky arts and crafts shops, restaurants and cafés and shops selling novel goods including a lollie shop. Meander for hours or relax in a cafe, feed the ducks and swans around the bridge, marvel at the old church and visit the long defunct convict gaol with its rich history.

Most Richmond
Bridge StreetRichmond Bridge, just off the main road in Richmond Village, is the oldest convict built bridge in Australia. The village also boasts a variety of quaint and quirky arts and crafts shops, restaurants and cafés and shops selling novel goods including a lollie shop. Meander for hours or relax in a cafe, feed the ducks and swans around the bridge, marvel at the old church and visit the long defunct convict gaol with its rich history.
On Tasmania’s east coast and a day trip from The Perch in Primrose, Wineglass Bay is yet another place of beauty and magic. It is located on the Freycinet Peninsula and well worth the effort of getting there. It is a 45 minute walk from the car park to Wineglass Bay lookout and then about a 90 minute walk to the Wineglass Bay beach if you choose to continue. Return walk from Wineglass Bay beach from the car park is 3.5 to 4.5 hours depending on pace.

It is located on the Freycinet Peninsula and well worth the effort of getting there. It is a 45 minute walk from the car park to Wineglass Bay lookout and then about a 90 minute walk to the Wineglass Bay beach if you choose to continue. Return walk from Wineglass Bay beach from the car park is 3.5 to 4.5 hours depending on pace.

On approach and crossing its arch, the views of the river and harbour are simply stunning. Mount Wellington, the often snow capped giant, looms in the background and is particularly beautiful in the June, July and August, ( our winter months).

Mount Wellington, the often snow capped giant, looms in the background and is particularly beautiful in the June, July and August, ( our winter months).

Access to the summit is vis a 21 km mountain road winding it’s way up from the Huon Highway through rain forest and alpine landscape. On the way up is a striking feature known as the Organ Pipes, a cliff of dole rite columns well worth observing. The cliff is also famous for rock climbing enthusiasts.
