Food scene

Driftwood Restaurant is located on the edge of Lauderdale Canal, only 5 minutes from Germain Court. We really like their food which changes regularly. It is a great restaurant with a relaxed vibe and a nice view of the canal and just a couple of minutes from Lauderdale beach.

With a reputation built on quality and attention to detail Hill Street is a highly popular local grocer in Tasmania with most things you need from your weekly shop. Fresh produce is great. If you are from the mainland think of it as similar to IGA.

Frogmore Creek Wines is a family owned Vineyard and is just a short drive from Sandford. Great place to go on the way to Richmond for wine tasting and/or lunch. Restaurant is open from 1130 to 1500. I really like the high vaulted ceiling there and the use of wood in their building plus they have a great view.Their best known wines include Forty-Two Degrees South and the Storm Bay wines.

Sightseeing

Great family beach in Lauderdale and just 10 minutes drive from us. It is great for walks, swimming and picnics! If surfing is more your thing, the next beach back towards Sandford has Lauderdale Point, and the one after has May's Point (just before you get to Cremorne beach). The next one after that is Clifton beach which is good for beginners. Clifton is also popular with kite surfers and windsurfers.

Our local surfing beach. Best for beginners rather than experienced surfers. Also very popular with windsurfers and kite surfers. This beach is often patrolled so a great place to take the kids too and in the summer months they run a surf school. Lovely views too.
