15 minutes up the road is The DuPont State Forest. The Park is known for several spectacular waterfalls, as well as miles of biking, hiking, and horseback trails. Several of our cover photos are from there and it is a magnificent place. It might be somewhat familiar to you if you have ever seen the movie “The Hunger Games” and “The Last of the Mohicans.” I think there are tours if you’re interested. The hiking to the waterfalls is more of a long walk.
There are no food vendors nearby.

The Pisgah National Forest is a massive area boasting of many cool thing to experience. Of course mountain biking and hiking are the two main draws to this beautiful location but there is much more. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a must for everyone in order to appreciate the area as you get a Birdseye view from atop the Great Smoky mountains. Just about 15 minutes to the Pisgah Forest entrance and another 20 minute beautiful drive to the top of the Great Smokies where you can go either way to enjoy awesome views. There are exits where you can access food and bathrooms if necessary, just plan ahead.
