Botanique by Food for Friends (their other restaurant is in the Lanes) is a short walk away on Western Road. Vegetables play the starring role and are complemented with a little cheese or eggs when requested. Most produce is grown on local soil. Botanique is also the UK’s first onsite, indoor hydroponic kitchen-garden - allowing them to grow their own bespoke exotic herbs and aromatics for their seasonal food and cocktail menus, with zero food miles.

I absolutely love all the Gingerman restaurants. The Gingerman (the original in Brighton), Ginger Pig (in Hove), Ginger Dog (in Kemp Town). Owned by someone I went to school with in Brighton (who has red hair, hence the name). The food is always excellent, they source their ingredients locally and organically. The apartment is half way between The Gingerman and The Ginger Pig.

One of my very favourite restaurants in Brighton! They specialise in sharing plates with a choice of seafood, meat, or vegetarian alongside a creative menu that changes daily. The truffle chips are my favourite chips in Brighton - perfect with their aioli mayonnaise.
Plateau effortlessly does laid-back, relaxed and lively at the same time. The atmosphere in the evenings is suited to couples and small groups. More family friendly at lunch time.

Interesting fact, owner Neil found the sign at a Sussex antiques fair when he was struggling for a name. It turned out to be part of an old sign for Camden Market and this is how the name was born!

A favourite restaurant of mine specialising in seafood with two venues - Riddle & Finns in the Lanes and Riddle & Finns on the Beach. Both venues offer social dining with shared tables and side by side seating, bringing guests together over the finest seafood.
Riddle & Finns operate exclusively on walk-ins. Tables are seated on a first come, first serve basis on the day. They start seating guests at their opening times, once at capacity they operate a waitlist offering an estimated time for the next table.

Trying to remain objective, as it is owned by old friends, Flour Pot bakeries and coffee shops are Brighton based and are dotted throughout the city, we are lucky to have one just around the corner from us. Jasmine is great with interiors and South African husband Oli worked as a chef for years at some of best restaurants in Brighton. Flour Pot bakeries have become a Brighton institution. Ask any Brightonian and they will be able to point you in the direction of the nearest one. The coffee is wonderful as are the baked goods!

In the opinion of our whole family (my children love this place), the best pizzeria in Brighton!! Fatto a Mano venues are dotted all over the city. The Hove venue is particularly lovely and only a few minutes walk away. They offer take away, counter or table dining. Great atmosphere, authentic feel and most importantly tasty pizza.

The Hove venue is particularly lovely and only a few minutes walk away. They offer take away, counter or table dining. Great atmosphere, authentic feel and most importantly tasty pizza.
Bankers do the best take-away Fish and Chips in Brighton in my opinion (my craving when pregnant with our daughter!) You do have to collect as they don't deliver. The shop is about a 5 minute walk from the apartment!

Terre a Terre is not particularly cheap but it is a Brighton institution and more than worthy of the many accolades it has received. For carnivores and committed salad-botherers alike, it is a revelation.

For homely, reasonably priced restaurant with a good family atmosphere, try looking at Donatellos which is one of the longest standing family restaurants in Brighton. They specialise in Italian but do absolutely anything very inexpensively.
