Sightseeing

As a tourist, a great starting point would be a visit to Edinburgh Castle. It’s a steep hike to get up there, but you will be rewarded with fabulous views of Edinburgh’s skyline... If you decide to go into the castle there is a charge and best to check the seasonal opening/closing times.

If you decide not to enter the Edinburgh Castle, it’s still a good place to start, good photo opportunities and the top of the “Royal Mile” being a great starting point. From the castle there are so many tourist attractions as you work your way down to the bottom, depending on what kind of places you prefer from. The bottom end of the Royal Mile is Holyrood Palace, just opposite the Scottish Parliament building

Definitely worth a visit, especially if the weather is not so good! It is free entry too! It has a cafe and restaurant. Not far to walk from The Royal Mile.

This is an ancient volcano 251m above sea level, located near the centre of Edinburgh. If you have energy to spare and are fit enough to make it to the top – you will be rewarded with amazing views.
