An 11 mile path that is mostly flat and paved. Great for a stroll, a bike ride, running or rollerblading! Take a left out of the driveway and head north on Old State Rd about 3/4 of a mile, where the rail trail crosses the road. A right will take you to the start of the trail, about two miles, and a left will take you about 9 miles North if you follow it all the way! Beautiful mountain and water views. You'll' go by the spot where the photo on the front of this book was taken ;)

Taking a drive through the park is also a great way to enjoy it - the views from the top are stunning. Lulu brook is a good place for swimming and wading on a hot day.
This is a quick drive from the house. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains along Rt 7 at the Pittsfield-Lanesborugh line, Pontoosuc is a 480-acre lake. Free parking is available near the public boat launch and the public sandy beach area at Pontoosuc Park on the south side of the lake, off of Hancock Rd.

Free parking is available near the public boat launch and the public sandy beach area at Pontoosuc Park on the south side of the lake, off of Hancock Rd.
A nice lake for swimming and boating, large field for picnics or frisbee, and a concert pavilion. A google search for "Onota Lake Beach" will get you to the public beach, "Live on the Lake" will yield the concerts going on in the pavilion.

These guys are masters of their craft. All local and humanely raised/organic meats. They have prepared foods as well as cuts of meat. I would recommend calling ahead to be sure they are open and have what you want before you make a trip. Also, service can be a little slow if you order prepared foods, so don't go here if you are short on time! Good food is slow :)
