Bangkok Royal has been operating in Waco for 10+ years. We have been going there since college days when they were over by Baylor :) I don’t consider myself a foodie but I really do enjoy Thai food. Seeing as how they’ve lasted this long they must be good! And it’s the only Thai place in town haha I usually go for the Pad Thai chicken, Pad See Ew or Tom Kha Gai soup. Satay is our go to for the kids

Great BBQ and their creation called the GutPak: chopped brisket + Fritos + cheese + onions + beans = one filled gut (of course you can customize your GutPak) They even have the GutPak Run. Yup. This authentic Italian restaurant opened summer 2020 and is the talk of the town! Probably a 7min drive from the house, not downtown but trust me it’s worth it!

The suspension bridge is restricted to pedestrians and bicyclists so it’s the perfect place to get a look up and down the river. Located on Franklin Ave it’s near restaurants, the convention center and shops. There are life size statues of Chisholm Trail riders and their cattle.
You may also notice a large statue and sculpture on the north side of the bridge. That is Doris Miller who was the first African American to be awarded the Navy Cross; for manning anti-aircraft guns and tending to the wounded during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Local youngsters are known to toss tortillas on to the near by pillars.

The parks and recreation areas on Lake Waco are managed by US Army Corp of Engineers. While a majority of the areas are for RV camping or tent camping and are reservation only there are a few day use areas. As of right now I believe Twin Bridges is the only open day use area. There is a beach area for swimming.

It’s a fairly small exhibit so it doesn’t take long. You’re basically going to see the mammoth bones still laying where they were discovered! If you would like to go I highly suggest you look on the website and find a time for the ranger guided tour!

Pick your meat served on shredded lettuce and rice, mix in onions and carrots. Top with cilantro lime sauce or siracha or both! Well this little coffee shop use to be just the musky college hangout but has now grabbed the attention of many more since it was on an episode of Fixer Upper. My favorite has always been the Cowboy Coffee with and extra shot of secret sauce...cause I like my coffee sweet!
They often host live music on weekends. There is a drive thru tucked between CG and Heritage Creamery that’s next door. This CG location sits on the edge of campus right off I-35. There is a newer Common Grounds coffee shop in nearby Hewitt that shares space with SlowRise Pizza
