Shimba hills is a small park you can drive around in a day and you can see leopard, elephant, sable antelope, giraffe.
Something off the beaten track...an unusual rock pool in the shape of Africa, where you can jump in and do snorkeling. Tide must be low. From Twiga lodge campsite walk left along the cliff. Take a guide, but negotiate first.

Galu is the area where Kenyaways is located. It was the last area to be developed and therefore the most preserved. These days you can get restaurants and small shops in Galu but for most things you need to go to Diani or Ukunda.

Ukunda is the town on the main road before you turn towards Diani Beach road. It has banks, super markets, traders, hardwares, everything you can possibly think of. Its quite busy and noisy and dirty and most of the lower income workers live in this area. There are some interesting stalls and markets selling local items.

Diani Beach is the central area of Diani with the quieter Kongo river Tiwi to the North and peaceful Galu Kinondo to the South. It can be noisy due to night clubs, busier on the roads, and is where you can find all your local amenities.

I love just wondering the streets of Mombasa, taking photos of the old buildings, walking into shops like treasure troves selling all sorts and sampling all the different food stalls. You can also do Fort Jesus and have a nice Swahili or Indian lunch.

Ras Kikadini is located in the little known area of Maweni Waa Beach. It is is a big house on a big property where you can enjoy total privacy. At amazing rates you can have the whole house to yourself, with a chef and housekeeping. It doesn't get more relaxing than this.
