The Swillburg neighborhood, is a cozy, active, triangular shaped 20 block community. The charming, narrow streets and natural mixture of homes and businesses offer the feel of a village with the convenience of city living.
Swillburg is convenient to all the city of Rochester has to offer, including the University of Rochester, Highland Park, Kodak Hall, and the George Eastman House International Center of Photography.
Businesses such as the 1930’s Highland Park Diner, upscale Rooney’s Restaurant, and the authentic India House provide diverse dining opportunities.

This is easily the best breakfast in town and a historic restaurant in a railway car at that! It's small so expect a wait at the busy times... but sitting at the counter is a great experience! This is also walking distance from the house.

Highland Park is actually a completely planned—and planted—arboretum or “tree garden.” In addition to over 1200 lilac shrubs, the park boasts a Japanese Maple collection, 35 varieties of sweet-smelling magnolias, a barberry collection, a rock garden with dwarf evergreens, 700 varieties of rhododendron, azaleas, mountain laurel and andromeda, horse chestnuts, spring bulbs and wildflowers and a large number of trees. The park’s pansy bed features 10,000 plants, designed into an oval floral “carpet” with a new pattern each year.

This home was the headquarters of the National American Woman Suffrage Association when she was its president. This is also where she died in 1906 at age 86, following her “Failure is Impossible” speech in Baltimore.

You must try Rochester’s “signature dish.”
Have you heard of the Garbage Plate? This unique mashup of ingredients is widely regarded as Rochester’s signature dish. The Garbage Plate has become a thing of legend, and the notorious local dish has been documented in many articles and news stories around the nation. The name “Garbage Plate” is trademarked by Nick Tahou Hots, home of the original Garbage Plate. You will also find other versions of this dish (and variations on it) on menus all over the Rochester area – from small hamburger joints, to fine dining restaurants and everything in-between.
